Cancer research: mestastop solutions establishes european subsidiary in Wallonia

A pioneer in combating cancer metastasis, Mestastop Solutions was one of five Indian life sciences companies invited to Wallonia from December 4th to 8th as part of the WalloniaTech-India program. This initiative aims to connect India's burgeoning startup ecosystem with the European market through Wallonia. The effort has paid off, as the Indian biotech company now inaugurates its European subsidiary within the Gosselies Biopark!

Dominique Demonté, CEO of the Biopark, expressed his delight: "Creating an attractive environment within the Charleroi BioPark for companies like Mestastop is a source of pride for us."

Founded in 2018 in India by Arnab and Debabani Roy Chowdhury, Mestastop Solutions has emerged as a leader in developing innovative solutions to halt the spread of cancer through metastases, responsible for 90% of deaths in patients with solid tumors.

Thanks to its three revolutionary technological platforms - in vitro, in vivo, and ex vivo - Mestastop Solutions explores the complex biology of metastases, enabling better targeting of at-risk patients and the development of promising drugs to delay their progression. The decision to establish a European subsidiary in Wallonia is a testament to the region's robust expertise and significant advantages in life sciences.

Frédéric Sallmann, Managing Director of the European subsidiary, expressed his enthusiasm: "Establishing Mestastop Solutions Europe in Belgium is a crucial step in our mission to transform cancer treatment. We believe this dynamic and innovative ecosystem will provide an ideal setting to accelerate our research and realize our advances in combating metastases."

The involvement of the Wallonia Export-Investment Agency (AWEX) was pivotal in establishing the European subsidiary. Through the WalloniaTech-India program, Mestastop Solutions Europe received invaluable support to access the resources and opportunities necessary for its development.

Pascale Delcomminette, CEO of AWEX, highlighted the importance of this international collaboration:

"The WalloniaTech-India program demonstrates the power of international collaboration in the field of startups and innovation. We are confident that these companies have the potential to thrive in the European market and contribute to the growth of Wallonia and Belgium."

As they embark on this new chapter, Frédéric Sallmann and Arnab Roy Chowdhury focus on deploying the European subsidiary, emphasizing clinical research and development of their technological platforms.
"We are determined to transform cancer treatment by harnessing the power of science and technology," says Arnab Roy Chowdhury. "We are committed to translating our discoveries into tangible clinical applications to ultimately transform how cancer is treated," adds Frédéric Sallmann.
